Due to seasonal and weather constraints, our group wasn't able to complete our full hours of service. However, we still worked hard on a weekly basis and were very dedicated to this project.
Our group split up into two, with Chloe and Alex going to represent our group at the Climate Change Panel, while Michael, Cole, and I went to the Southdale YMCA to continue work on the pollinator garden. As we had already done a large amount of uprooting of plants the last time we were there but had not planted much, lots of weeds were popping up everywhere. Many other Master Gardeners showed up to help. We ended up assisting in pulling up weeds, pulling roots of old plants, clearing areas of the garden for planting, adding new soil, planting buds of plants, etc. It was very exhausting work, as we were sitting in the sun in 80+ degree weather. I got tired very easily due to the intensity of the sun, but powered through. When we were all done and had watered everything, looking at our hard work was very worth it. The garden looked very nice and clean, and I'm sure given time the flowers and plants will grow into something very pretty. Being able to help with this was very satisfying as I felt I was directly helping plant things that are beneficial to bees.
